This is Carl from Hawaii island, Kona.
Everyday living in the beautiful islands one of the best time of the day for everyone is "Pau Hana" time. "Pau" means done and "Hana" means task or to do. Put together "Pau Hana" means done work. Roughly around 16:00 till sunset it is when Hawaii comes to an easy going and slow going pace. Everyone is usually done work in Hawaii.
During Pau Hana time one is to find a restful spot; usually the beach or at your house. Have a cold drink and lots of pupus. Pupus mean appetizers in Hawaiian. Also listen to Hawaiian music or play your ukulele added to your Pau Hana time will make it more enjoyable.
One of my favorite pupus is poke. Cubes of ahi mixed with Hawaiian salt, onions, and seaweed. Yummy.
Today's Pau Hana time I picked up some poke at the local grocery store.
There are many different kind of poke. There is kimchee flavoring, furikake avocado, and shoyu. All are really yummy. Also besides ahi they have octopus or
crab. Today I got the shoyu flavor ahi poke.
Pau Hana is the best time of the day and it is one the the greatest things about Hawaii.
