Famous Canadian enterprise “Cirque du Soleil” which has attracted more than 80 million audience around the world has decided to establish a permanent scene in Moscow. For this purpose a new building will be constructed in Russian capital. The estimated cost of the project is 250 million USD.
Moscow thus has became the first European city permanently hosting
the show.
The first show of their new program CORTEO is scheduled for the 9-th OCT.
Corteo, which means "cortege" in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Posing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.
Cirque du Soleil began when a group of street performers in Quebec (Canada) decided to create a new venue for their passion. Under the guidance of Guy Laliberté, Cirque du Soleil has used its passion for creativity and innovation to redefine the entertainment landscape.
The shows are extremely colorful and engaged a lot of participants.
All the costumes are unique and are created by their own Costume workshop.
In 2007, the Costume workshop produced more than 20,000 pieces!
The Costume workshop uses more than twenty kilometres of fabric each year.
Since 1998 the shoemaking team has made and/or modified approximately 5,000 pairs of shoes.
