今日はロシア正教のお祭りと、そのお祭りにちなんだレシピのご紹介です♪
On the 11 of June Russian Orthodox Church has celebrated Holy Trinity Day. This day marks the beginning of summer in Russia and some of old traditions are still alive. Many prayers came to churches bringing grass, flowers and birch branches. Birch trees are traditionally symbolize this holy day and still remain it’s main attribute.
Grass and flowers from church after pray are usually taken home and believed to heal from different kinds of illness.
This fest is traditionally takes place in open air, in the field or in the forest. There are lots of old traditional games and dances.
Traditional Trinity pie is baked and eaten on a colorful tablecloth spread on the ground. All the items used during the fest had strong sacred matrimonial meaning. The tablecloth was to be put secretly under normal one in a girl’s house to attract suitors.
The Trinity pie crumbs are collected and then put into the wedding pie.
In the evening girls throw the birch branches into the river and look them floating away. The branch which is the fastest promises her owner near marriage.
Here is one of original dishes which would be suitable for Trinity festive menu
Dandelion Salad 
Ingredients: 20 dandelion leaves, 50 gr of light cheese, 1 small onion, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 1 tablespoon of vinegar,
2 eggs, some croutons, salt, paper.
Put dandelion leaves into cold salted water for 1 hour. Cut the leaves, onion and eggs, crumble the cheese,
mix all the ingredients and decorate.
