Ｂｕｌａ！フィジーを愛する皆様へ
平素よりエイチ・アイ・エス・フィジー支店のブログをご愛読頂き誠に有難うございます。本日は非常に残念なお知らせになりますが、日頃からフィジーを心から愛して頂いている皆様にまず最初にご報告を差し上げたいと思います。
１０月３１日付けで現地新聞・ニュースに正式に発表となりましたが、週３便で運行しておりました成田－ナンディ線のフライトが来年４月１日より全便運行中止が発表されました。この決定により４月以降、エア・パシフィック航空は日本への乗り入れがなくなり、事実上日本から撤退することとなります。今後、フィジーにご旅行される場合は、韓国のソウル経由、又はオーストラリアのシドニー又はブリスベン経由、ニュージーランド航空を使ったオークランド経由が主要となります。
今回、エア・パシフィック航空が運航中止を取り決めた背景には、エア・パシフィック航空の経営戦略上の理由です。大幅な赤字路線であった日本線の削減、日本からの旅行者の減少、及び世界各国を取り巻く経済状況の悪さ、及び燃油サーチャージの高騰などが原因です。他にもカナダのバンクーバーやキリバツなどのフライトも一部運行中止が決定しています。しかし一方で新しくブリスベンや香港線などの明るい新規就航路線もあります。
現在“ｆｉｊｉ ｍｅ”キャンペーンなどで日本人マーケットに対してフィジー全体で盛り上がっていただけに、早期の段階での決断には関係者各位は遺憾の意がありますが、今後どのような形でフィジーに直行便が運行するかは今のところ未定です。
皆様より長年愛され続けてきたエア・パシフィック航空もあと５ヶ月でその姿が見られなくなります。是非、フィジーに思い入れのある方、フィジーにもう一度行こうと予定を立てられている方、この最後の機会にエア・パシフィック航空でフィジーにお越し下さい。
もちろんエイチ・アイ・エス・フィジー支店は、もちろん今後もフィジーのご旅行を取り扱いいたしますので引き続きご愛好の程、宜しくお願い申し上げます。今後は大韓航空が主流となりますが、日本各地に就航している航空会社であることからアクセスもそれほど悪くはありません。
またいつの日にかエア・パシフィック航空が日本に就航できるようにスタッフ一同願っております。
Air Pacific Withdraws from Japan and adds Hong Kong

"Air Pacific’s Managing Director & CEO, John Campbell, announced that Air Pacific will withdraw its three weekly Boeing 767 flights between Nadi and Tokyo from 31st March 2009 and commence services between Nadi and Hong Kong from June 2009 with twice weekly Boeing 767 flights.
Mr Campbell said “Air Pacific’s flights to Tokyo have experienced declining demand over the past four years, during which time Air Pacific has incurred losses on the route exceeding $35 million”. He said “the route overwhelmingly relies on Japanese origin travellers with 85% of total carriage originating from the Japanese market. Demand has steadily declined as economic circumstances in Japan have impinged on longhaul flights and vacations and Japanese travellers have turned preferences to closer, short duration holidays in destinations such as China, Korea and South East Asia.
The travel industry in Fiji and Japan, jointly with Air Pacific and the Fiji Islands Visitors Bureau, have tried very hard to re-stimulate demand from Japan to Fiji with numerous marketing programmes and special pricing over the past three years but unfortunately this has not been successful. Given the escalating level of losses and the fact that the market shows no signs of recovery we have regretfully taken the hard decision to withdraw flights.”
Negotiations between the Government of Fiji and the Special Regulatory Authority of Hong Kong have been initiated to establish Air Services Agreements which will allow Air Pacific to commence non-stop flights between Nadi and Hong Kong from June 2009. Initially flights will be twice weekly using B767 aircraft which will be expanded to three times weekly once the route is established and demand can justify the additional flight.
Mr Campbell said “Hong Kong was selected after exhaustive evaluation of various destinations in Asia as it represents the best economic opportunity for Air Pacific and Fiji tourism. Hong Kong is a major hub for services from China and points in Asia including Japan as well as flights from UK and Europe. Wide ranging connecting flights are available to and from points in India and the emerging Middle East, Russia and Eastern Europe markets which, coupled with a vibrant and dynamic market in Hong Kong and Southern China, presents a major opportunity for Fiji.
Hong Kong permits Fiji citizens to enter and transit without a visa so that Fiji citizens can conveniently and freely visit and travel through Hong Kong to India, Asia, China, Middle East and Europe. The market presents an excellent opportunity for air freight export industries from Fiji, particularly fish, marine products and tropical fruits and as well provides strong import cargo opportunities to support the economics of the route”.
Ample advance notice of the commencement of flights to Hong Kong permits the tourism industry in Fiji to plan and commence marketing programmes cooperatively with Air Pacific to take advantage of the exciting opportunity of one stop travel from points in UK and Europe to Fiji as well as the burgeoning regional markets of Asia, China and India.
Details of flight schedules and airfares will be published by Air Pacific once negotiations between the Governments of Fiji and Hong Kong are concluded."
