LUVA River Kayaking

Hi! This is Aki-ra.

I tried kayaking these days, so I will introduce it to everyone.

Tour title

LUVA river kayaking

LUVA River is a branch (a tributary) river of NAVUA river.

I introduce the itinerary of the tour.

(Itinerary)

０５：３０～　Departure from Hotels in NADI

The transfer car departed from the nearest hotel from my house at 5:30 in the early morning.

We left for this tour’s office in Pacific harbor where get for about 2hours 30mins from NADI.

Because of the sunrise time is 6:15am these days, we left for there by using Queens RD in the dark.

On the way to Pacific harbor, the sun rose and I could see beautiful Sun-rise and Fijian rural landscape.

On the way to the office, we stop in at a hotel in Coral coast and picked up a customer and we arrived at the office at around 8am.

Participants this times are Me and Our HIS guide AL, a Aussie girl, American married couple, JPN young couple. Total 7people participated in this tour. We changed the cloths which is possible to get wet and departed from there.

Firstly we left for a village by Track. We got on a load-carrying platform of the track.

The track ran on the unpaved road whose the atmosphere is nice.

We enjoyed the landscape both mountain and ocean on the way.

On the way to the destination, there are several villages. Many villagers waved hands with us!

Finally We arrived at a destination village! We got along with children. They are innocent and charming.

In a traditional house, we met some villagers and held a KAVA(traditional Fijian drink) ceremony.

I accustomed to drinking KAVA, so I drunk too much KAVA.

I became a member of Fijian society.

People were drying KAVA roots on the ground.

There are many domestic animals like fowl in the village, so I could see the peaceful landscape that continue from the old days.

We left from the village to go to the kayaking staring point where located in the upper river.

The instruments have already prepared there. I’m good at swimming , so I don’t need a life jacket, but

I put on the life jacket for safety and also helmet. I got on a kayak after all is ready.

I have ever tried Kayaking in Japan and also KAKADU national park in Aus, so I tried after a long time.

I couldn’t handle the kayak, because kayak headed both right and left(couldn’t handle in a straight.)

It was difficult to handle with the kayak.

I could get rid of the lack of the exercise, because I could feel exploring the unexplored regions of the Tropical zone by seeing the great waterfalls and charming children who were enjoying in the river.

We landed to have lunch on the way and had sand-witch. I really felt the food after exercise is delicious in the nature,

I and Al(our staff) ate food too much like fierce animals. I felt getting the muscular body.

LUVA river joined the NAVUA river(the main stream). We got off the kayak at the middle reaches of NAVUA river. From there we went back to the office that departed in the morning by track.

After arriving at the office, we took a short break and left for our hotels.

The time was sunset time, so we could enjoy the view of the sunset.

(Advices and attentions)

We don’t need a lot of money, so please don’t need to a lot of money.

Need a pair of sandals(If it’s possible, with buckle is better.

Please join with your good physical conditions because we use physical strength

(General comment)

We can enjoy both river’s kayaking and a village visit. The image of Fiji is beach very much, but It’ not only beach, but also traditional villages, river, great tropical rainforests etc we can enjoy.

Fijian rural landscape!! Kayaking in the tropical rainforests!! We can get along with the charming villagers who wave hands to us!! It’s so great!!
