I recently went on routine site visits of three of our contracted Starwood New York properties. Two - the Sheraton and Manhattan at Times Square - are already quite popular with our clients, while the other - the Helmsley, soon to be rebranded the Westin New York Grand Central Station - is sure to grow in esteem when it completes its transformation in July of 2012. All three are located in the heart of midtown, and offer something slightly different for its guests. For this post, I will cover just the Sheraton New York, and the follow-up with both the Manhattan at Times Square and the Helmsley/Westin New York Grand Central Station in my next one.
My first stop was the Sheraton New York, located conveniently on 52nd Street and 7th Avenue a couple of blocks removed from the crush of humanity in Times Square. The hotel itself has undergone a $160 million facelift that is nearing completion, and all rooms have been completely redesigned with new decor and furniture. The other thing worth noting is that all king-bedded rooms no longer accommodate rollaway beds, and instead come equipped with a chaise lounge. The chaise lounge itself is large enough for another guest if they do not want to share the single bed, but perhaps compromises a bit by way of comfort.
All rooms come with new flat-panel TVs, desk, and bathtub. The decor is sleekly modern with white comforter and sheets, black glossy desk, and punches of color from the chaise lounge and pillows.
The amenities of the Sheraton have also all been redone, including a brand new fitness center available for $10 per guest per day, or $20 per guest per stay. Lines of new cardiovascular and weight machines fill the expansive fitness center, and personal trainers are also available upon request.
Vouchers for a hot breakfast buffet at the Sheraton's restaurant Hudson Market are available through H.I.S.
Guests are also welcome to relax in our lobby cafe with free WIFI. Several internet-enabled desktops are also available to guests in the lounge.
