RARE BAR & GRILL
303 Lexington Avenue(at 37th Street.)
Inside the Affinia Shelburne Hotel

This year's summer has gone by so fast that I haven't been to any patio or rooftop bars.
I had to go to at least one before the season was over. I found the Rare Bar & Grill through Yelp.
There are 2 locations in Manhattan one of them being nearby our office.
A few of my co-workers and I headed there after work. The restaurant is on the ground floor attached to the hotel.
There is a separate side entrance to access the rooftop (16th fl) by elevator.
Half of the rooftop was setup like a bar you would find on the shore. High tables and chairs, not that comfortable to sit on.
The other half of the rooftop was a lounge.
Quieter atmosphere and low resting sofas, chairs and cocktail tables under canopies.
The restaurant does not server any food on the rooftop and since it was still bright outside we decided to go back down to the ground floor to get some food!
The Rare Bar & Grill is a typical burger joint so I went with the "M&M" Burger.
I don't know why it's called M&M but it is flambeed with whiskey and has apple smoked bacon on it and that's all I needed to know.
That and a basket of fries and some beers and I was liking the place better and better.

*Side note* No draft poured here. Only bottled.

We went back upstairs after dinner and drinks and found a table right away.
The rooftop at night was a much better experience than coming during the day.
There are skyscrapers towering over you on all sides.
Rare Bar & Grill definitely has a nice location as far as rooftop bars goes.
And on this particular night the air was warm and the sky was clear with the second full moon of the month of August.
We finished the work week and the last day of a full summer month under a blue moon, sipping on frozen screwdrivers.
Definitely a nice quiet way to mark the end of the summer season.
