Hello Bloggers,
Have you ever eaten italian pizza?
Preparing homemade pizza, making your own dough, is something that makes you really proud. Pile on your favorite toppings and get ready to eat it!
Ingredients:
1 cup of warm water
1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) of active dry yeast
400 gr of flour (bread or all-purpose)
2 tablespoons of olive oil
3 cups of tomato sauce
250 gr of mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced
2 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of oregano
Toppings (onions, mushrooms, pepperoni, cooked sausage, diced peppers, leftover veggies or tuna, etc.)
Preheat the oven to 210°C: don't be afraid to really crank the heat up to its highest setting. It should be piping hot before you start cooking the pizza!
The high heat will help make a crunchier and more flavorful crust. Let the oven heat for at least half an hour before baking your pizza.
Place the warm water in a cup and pour the yeast onto the water and let it sit until it dissolves.
Mix the other dough ingredients in a large mixing bowl: the flour, olive oil and salt and then add the yeast mixture.
Work by hand to stir the ingredients together until a wet dough forms. Keep mixing it until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Form it into a ball, cut in the center, and place it in a clean mixing bowl coated.
Put a dishcloth over the bowl and place it in a warm part of the kitchen for letting it sit and rise until it has doubled in size (it should take about 1 hour).
Now you can form the crusts: divide the dough into two equal parts and shape them each into balls. Work it on a floured surface, roll out the first ball of dough and shape it.
It’s time to top the pizza First of all spread a few tablespoons of tomato sauce into the center of the pizza and use the back of a spoon to spread it out to the edges. Then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Layer your favorite toppings over the sauce. Add as many or as few toppings as you want. There are no rules about the kinds of toppings you put on your pizza (make sure they are not going overboard or the crusts won't get crisp). Choose the ones you love. They will cook a little in the oven, but if it isn't something you like to eat raw, like sausage or mushrooms, allow some extra time to cook them. If you'd like fresh greens, like arugula or basil, on your pizza, sprinkle them over the pizza right when it comes out of the oven.
Transfer the pizza to the baking sheet and place it in the lower-middle of your oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese looks melted and toasty.
Remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Play around with this basic recipe and make it your own! Enjoy!
