Hi everyone, 

Just in case you missed out, June 3 was National Donut

day. I take every excuse to go off my diet,  so right after work

I decided to check out a local donut place that perpetually has a long line

around lunch hour. 

California Donuts is located in the Wilshire center,

open 24 hours a day to deliver fresh donuts to all at all hours to its

hungry fans.

Obviously national donut day didn`t make the lines here any 

shorter than usual. After waiting about 30 mins in line

and watching customer after customer purchase plump,

colorful donuts in bulk it was my turn. 

Most of the flavors were new and unheard of, like 

"blueberry cinnamon toast crunch", "snickers" or 

"maple bacon".

Being an adventurous person, I went with a plain cream-filled

donut with sliced fresh strawberries on top, while my friend

ordered the maple bacon donut, remarking that it was 

the best flavor there.

The strawberry cream donut was a tad too sweet and rich

 but the coconut donut (pictured top left) that I mooched off my

friend was perfectly delectable with a delightful texture that 

all coconut lovers would drool over. The maple bacon donut tasted exactly

what you`d expect what would happen. A sweet donut with 

salty and tasty bacon strips over it. I`m not a fan, but if you are, by all

means go for it.

MY RATING: Three and a half stars out of five. It might be worth

stopping by if you`re brave enough to battle the traffic to look for

parking. The adorable panda donuts might just be the right amount

incentive to make a stop in

K-town.
