Every year the LA Dodgers have a Japan Night to celebrate the Japanese-American community in Southern California and also the close connectionCalifornia has with Japan.
Nisei Week Queen and her Court
On May 18, I went to Japan Night 2017 at Dodger’s Stadium. Kenta Maeda, who spent eight seasons playing for the Hiroshima Carp in Japan, was scheduled to pitch but due to an injury was replaced – OH NO!
MIZMO
A special pregame presentation included a ceremonial first pitch by Olympic Gold Medalist Kosuke Kitajima, the Japanese and USA National Anthem performed by MIZMO and a Taiko drum performance by LA Taiko Ichiza.
The opposing team was the Miami Marlins. Ichiro Suzuki was also scheduled to play but last minute was not in Right Field as expected – OH NO, AGAIN!
The Dodgers have so many special nights like Japan night. On Thursday May 25, they will have Hello Kitty Night! Every Friday night they have Friday Night Fireworks. Contact HIS for more details about tickets and special promotion nights if you want to go.
