Today I'd like to introduce one of the famous Sichuan cuisine - MaoCai.
Many people would first pop-up with: what is that? Speak Easily, it's one of the Sichuan styple's hotpot.
It is composed of a variety of vegetables as well as meat and/or fish in a stock made of spicy sauce. Although it is similar to styles of hot pot common in this region, its chief difference lies in the fact that the ingredients are already cooked when served, and hence no simmering is done at the table. ---wikipedia
I thought this particular cuisine can only be found in China, but we discovered one in Los Angeles!!!
Since MaoCai ingredients are served in a huge bowl of fiery red soup with seasonings like ginger, garlic, black soy bean, etc.. So it's much more like a self-selected places, you could put whatever you want in your pot!
After you choosed your favor, then you could choose your carbs: rice, noodles, as well as your soup base(spicy level).
Their soups are not that spicy so I highly recommend to choose medium as starter! Also, dine-in spaces are pretty nice too. You could have the full view from ceiling window.
There's always said: MaoCai is hotpot for one, hotpot is mao cai for many. If you only have a small company and want to try the hot-pot style, come and visit Earth Kitchen!
