Many people have heard of San Diego Comic Con, but Los Angeles has one too. In fact, LA Comic Con was originally held by Marvel Comics' Stan Lee. However he passed away, the event is still held every year in October at the LA Convention Center.

Like San Diego Comic Con, there are celebrities at the event. Not only comic book personalities like Kevin Smith, but actors like Ron Perlman (Hellboy, pictured below, right side) and Phyllis Smith (The Office) made appearances.

You can hear from industry specialists, go to discussion panels, watch a movie before it's Hollywood release (this year was Zombieland 2 ), get autographs from guests, or just buy comics and merchandise. People also cosplay as their favorite comic book characters.

But you can cosplay as other, non-comic characters too.

Since the event is in October, kids can do trick or treating while adults can try out their Halloween costumes. If you like comics and Halloween, it's a great convention to go to, even for one day.
