Hi everyone!
Ever feel like you need a change of pace, a breath of fresh
air, away from all the hustle of the downtown Los Angeles life?
Why not visit one of Southern California`s most beautiful areas for a
weekend?
Santa Barbara is only a comfortable 2 and half hour train ride away from
Los Angeles, with breathtaking views of the oceanfront scenery most of
much of the way. Prices are slightly steep at $80 per round trip, but it`s
the way to go if you`d prefer to save the hassle of weaving through
notorious LA traffic.
Union Station is pictured below:
I used the Pacific Surfliner from Union Station to Santa Barbara
station. Seating is roomy and comfortable, restrooms are decent,
and over-priced wraps, salads, and beers are available at all hours.
Santa Barbara has a much more relaxed vibe than LA.
Pictured below is Goleta Beach, which is close by the
famous UC Santa Barbara campus.
Since I was visiting during summer vacation months, this gorgeous beach
surrounded by cliffs was nearly empty.
The panoramic views of the cliffs and peaceful beach
and skies were breathtaking.
Pictured below is one of the many well-tended flower
gardens in Goleta.
Interestingly, temperatures seemed to be much cooler in Santa Barbara
compared to Los Angeles.
I was told that most people do not even have air conditioning
set up in their homes, which is definitely not the case here in Los
Angeles.
Pictured below is the Santa Barbara farmer`s markets in Goleta.
Santa Barbara has more to offer than laid back scenic views.
Night life is interesting and fun the famous State Street.
Located nearby UC Santa Barbara, numerous restaurants,
bars, clubs, and fast food joints are alive well past 2 am, all within
walking distance on a single street.
If you live in Los Angeles and have not yet visited
Santa Barbara, then well... you`re missing out.
I`m already planning my next visit to Santa Barbara.....
