RIETI TOWN: THE CENTRE OF ITALY
This time I want you to know a little 'Rieti Province is the country where I live, is very pretty and is a quiet town.
Because of its central position in the peninsula, Rieti is curiously called "THE NAVEL OF ITALY." It is located at the confluence of three rivers: Salto, Velino and Turano. The traces of foundation date back to the Iron Age. Oldest of Rome itself, the original name, Reate, could result from Rhea Silvia, the mother of Romulus and Remus, or by Rhea, wife of Cronus, or from the greek "guilty", which means scroll, with clear reference to water, ancient wealth of Rieti.
The city of Rieti, the capital of the eponymous province in the Lazio region, is located on a small hill at the edge of a fertile plain, called the Piana Reatina at the foot of Monte Terminillo, about 400 meters above sea level.
On the surface, the main point of attraction is Piazza Cesare Battisti, beautiful, with the Government Palace and the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.
Then there near the Papal Palace. Another beautiful Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II dolphin fountain and the Municipal building, which is the highest point of the city, where you will find the beautiful
Piazza V: Emanuele and the Fountain of the Dolphins
Do not miss the theater from which, by way Cerroni you arrive in Piazza S.Rufo
considered THE CENTER OF ITALY This original record is consecrated by a plaque written in many languages
PIAZZA SAN RUFO
I recommend a visit to the Monument to the Lira, this is a monument very curious and interesting for all lovers and maybe even a little 'the most nostalgic of the good old Lira which is located in Piazza Cavour, was created in 2003 by Daniela Fusco and depicts Italy, who holds in his hands a coin to a pound. To realize there are 2.2 million coins took 200 pounds.

Also worth seeing is the church of Sant'Agostino, built by the Augustinians in Romanesque-Gothic style in the middle of the thirteenth century, with the front side of stones and pillars, the portal front and above the canopy.
To see and cross the Ponte Romano (the ruins of the river Velino)
SUBTERRANEAN TOWN
Then there is the underground Rieti probably the most beautiful and charming of Rieti that everyone should visit at least once to experience the history of the city and the people who lived there, especially going over the period of the bombing of the Second World War . discover things that no one had ever said before about our city. For lovers of history and archeology, an event not to be missed.
One last thing: Rieti is full of wine bars! In addition to taverns and inns where you eat well! Exquisite things, the straccette soup, pasta alla amatriciana, lamb stew, chicken in a spicy and trios to Rieti to try ... really
