RIETI TOWN: THE CENTRE OF ITALY

This time I want you to know a little 'Rieti Province is the country where I live, is very pretty and is a quiet town.

Because of its central position in the peninsula, Rieti is curiously called "THE NAVEL OF ITALY." It is located at the confluence of three rivers: Salto, Velino and Turano. The traces of foundation date back to the Iron Age. Oldest of Rome itself, the original name, Reate, could result from Rhea Silvia, the mother of Romulus and Remus, or by Rhea, wife of Cronus, or from the greek "guilty", which means scroll, with clear reference to water, ancient wealth of Rieti.

The city of Rieti, the capital of the eponymous province in the Lazio region, is located on a small hill at the edge of a fertile plain, called the Piana Reatina at the foot of Monte Terminillo, about 400 meters above sea level.
