Dear bloggers,
today I’d like to tell you something about one street in the very center of Rome, famous for its beautiful fountain, the typical buildings and many shops: “Via del Tritone” - Tritone street.
It is easily accessible from the Metro Line A-Barberini, just very close to our office (come to visit us!!!We’re waiting for you!!).
Once you get off at Barberini Metro Station, on your left you can find Via del Tritone!
The famous street takes its name from the Triton Fountain, located in R Piazza Barberini and sculpted by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, a very famous italian sculptor and architect between 1642 and 1643.
The fountain was made entirely with travertine and represent a Triton, kneeling on a shell supported by four dolphins, in the act of blowing into a shell, from which flows the water of the fountain, which is collected in a tank lines curves. Among the tails of dolphins are visible bees, the signs of the Barberini family, and the keys, signs of the Popes.
Unfortunately, it is currently under restoration.
But let's take a look at the road. This is the view that you can see from Piazza Barberini.
As I said the road is lined on both sides by a lot of old buildings, interesting for their architectonical old fashioned style .At their base and you can find plenty of shops for shopping and bars.
The road is always crowdy and there are always many tourists walking, since at its end you can get directly to the other very famous street, Via del Corso.
Along the way you can see this white palace, the head office of the "Messenger" daily newspaper of Rome.
On its’ left a tunnel brings directly from Via del Tritone to Via Nazionale, another very famous road, that I believe all of you may know.
Going ahead a litte bit further you have some more shops and ....
and the old Holy Saint Mary Church "Chiesa di Santa Maria".
Ahead again, you meet San Silvestro square, that was once open to the traffic and was completely surrounded by bus stops. Actually the big part of it has become pedestrian so usually many tourists stop to rest and take a drink or an ice cream.
Walking a litte bit more you can find the "Galleria Alberto Sordi", an historic shopping gallery recently renovated and dedicated to a famous Roman actor, Alberto Sordi (I don’t know if you can find some of his films translated in japanese, but if you can find any, please see it!!! I really recommend).Entering here you will find many shops and restaurants.
Please note that this is only the builinding!Inside is much more better!!!
We arrived at the end of the road and also of the Blog article!!!
I hope reading was interesting for you!!! Grazie a tutti – Thank you all - and see you soon! Luca
