Dear All,

Today I will talk about Tivoli and its Villas!

Tivoli is a small town not far from Rome (about 20 minutes away from coach or car). Well, Tivoli is famous all over the world! Why? Maybe for is temperate climate or for the hill on which it Is situated or “only” for its villa: Villa Adriana, Villa D’Este and Villa Gregoriana.

In particular the former was the residence of the Roman Emperor Hadrian and it is visited by millions of tourists every year for its statues, pools, ruins, etc.

The maritime theatre is one of the most ancient building of the Villa with a circular arcade opened on a channel.

Some antiques found there, are shown in famous museums such as “Le Louvre” of Paris or the “British Museum” of London.

Villa D’Este, built during the Renaissance, represents one of the best example of this style in Italy, and contains about one thousands fountains, the most famous built by Bernini.

Both Villa Adriana and Villa D’Este are Unesco World Heritage Centers. Villa Gregoriana is less renowned then the other two villas but is an enormous romantic garden where the sublime and the savage seem to mix in a symphony.

Located in a very small area it is possible for the tourist to reach the three Villas in a very short time and to visit them during the same day.

I hope you will enjoy there!

See you soon!

Sara
