Civita di Bagnoregio is a little village located in the province of Viterbo, region of Lazio, in central Italy. Civita was founded by Etruscans more than 2500 years ago and It's one of the most beautiful and characteristic Italian villages, known as "il paese che muore"(the town that is dying) because most of the residents have left due to constant erosion of its volcanic rock into the valley below.
The only way to reach Civita di Bagnoregio is the long bridge that you can see in the picture. The bridge is wide enough that you don't have to look down from the height!
This village is just magical and easy to visit. There is an ancient church, an etruscan cave wine press. There's only one main street, so you can't get lost; all the others are dead ends but well worth a look. There are some shops with local products and places to eat and rest your feet.
The town itself is very small, but incredibly ancient and romantic!
If you like go back in history, you have to visit it!
