Sabaudia is a coastal town Immersed in the Circeo National Park at around 90 Km from the south of Rome and 25 Km from Latina.
This town was originally a big marshland, where on the first half of the 1900, vast tracts of malaria-infested areas were drained by workers transported from poor areas of northern Italy, leaving the coast with rich farmland and a few newly created beach towns.
Quickly Sabaudia became a touristic attraction for many people leaving in Rome and nearby and also well known as a holiday destination chosen by many celebrities from the world of entertainment and culture.
The town itself is quite small, but interesting for its very rationalist architecture of the major public buildings as the Town Hall, with the civic tower overlooking the main square of the town.
But let’s talk about beach!
Sabaudia has a 20 km beach, surrounded by nature and sand hills.
On the left side of the beach, you can see “Monte Circeo” Circeo mountain together with its “Torre Paola” a tower built in the Middle Ages to prevent pirates Saraceni Attacks ( if you enlarge the picture you can see it!)
All the beach is provided by small beach resort where you can have a snack, a drink , a full lunch or dinner at the restaurant and also rent a surf, or canoe.
For the ones that love adventure, from the beach you can reach and discover the famous “Monte Circeo” caves, where rests of Neanderthal man were discovered.
