Dear Blogger,
Saturday August 3rd at 05:30 started the pedestrianization of Imperial Forums street in Rome.
For the ones that doesn’t know about it, this is the road that passes in front of the Colosseum and leads to Piazza Venezia.
From 03 August is possible to walk this very important street full of history without the usual traffic which we have always been used to.
For private cars and motorcycles the transit is prohibited, and for the moment only taxis, buses and authorized cars are allowed to pass respecting a 30Km per hour maximum speed.
The mayor of Rome who was the promoter of this initiative, has set for the night of August 3rd a party to celebrate this big change.
Thus, the most important archaeological site in the world has had a night of free guided tours and great shows, including live music, theater and circus acrobatics, staged in natural theater of Imperial Forums, from the Colosseum up to Forum of Caesar.
The project of the pedestrianization of the Imperial forums and the related traffic stop includes also by December 2013 a bike path and with the completion of the Metro C, the area will be completely pedestrianized becaming a real "walk through history."
