ニュース 2014.01.26
Dear Everyone,

Many greetings for the New Year: I wish You to travel all around the world during 2014!smile

Today let me introduce You a little treasure located a just one step from H.I.S. Rome office.....if You have the chance to come to Rome and visit HIS Rome branch You should really pay a short visit to SANTA MARIA DELLA VITTORIA CHURCH (サンタ・マリア・デッラ・ヴィットーリア教会).
Please take a look at this map for reference, the red star show You where the church is located::

You see? The church it's located at just 1 minute walking distance from H.I.S office and 3 minutes walking distance from Repubblica square Underground Station!
You may think that Rome is full of churches everywhere....and You are totally right! But this is very special because it contains one masterpiece of the famous 17th century architect, painter and sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini (ジャン・ロレンツォ・ベルニーニ) !

The church is open for visitors from 08.30 to 12.00 am and from 15.30 till 18.00 pm.
Once You enter You may immediately notice the ceiling of the church for its many decorations: white angels embrace the fresco which shows the divine intervention of St. Mary during the battle. In fact the church was consecrated to one victory of Catholics near Prague during the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648).

Not surprisingly You will find many hints of this battle inside the church: frescoes, armors and statues recall the catholics venture in the Bohemian area (today Czech Republic).

Apart from these pieces of art You may be surpised to discover, on the right near the altar, the statue of the martyr St. Vittoria: the body is made of wax and contains the real bones of the Saint.

On the opposite side, to the left, there is the famous masterpiece of the sculptor Bernini: The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa.

The group of statues made of marble and bronze shows the nun Teresa D'Avila (later known as St. Teresa) togheter with the angel who apperead to her and stab her with a golden arrow, symbol of the love of God. The decription of the ecstasy found in the memories of St. Teresa, explaining what she felt that moment, is also written just below the sculpture so any visitor can understand the meaning of this beautiful statue.

Before You exit the church take few minutes to observe the other statues and paintings that decorate the church's recess...

Well if You got the chance to stop around H.i.s. office in Rome or Repubblica Square please don't miss this short yet interesting visit!
That's all for today,
See You next post!
