today I’d like to introduce you a natural "onsen" in Tuscany, the spa of Saturnia.

Unlike private spas, to access natural spa of Saturnia, there is no need of ticket and nor even an entrance fee to be paid as it is completely free.

The spa of Saturnia are located in the open area of Molino (which takes its name from the presence of an ancient mill just at the side of the falls). The spa is located a few kilometers from the center of Saturnia.

The thermal water came out from the source at a temperature of 37 degrees, and after a few hundred meters of free-flowing it ends on a series of small and very characteristics waterfalls and limestone pools that make it a very popular destination for Italians and tourists.

The spa of Saturnia, as you can see from the photos that I took on mid-September, is especially crowded in summer time while in the winter the situation improves a lot because of the cold that discourages the touristic crowd.

Even if it’s a free place, you can find a nice bar just in front of the spa, where you can have a drink or a snack.

If you’re looking for something unforgettable I may suggest you go to there for a hot bath at midnight in the winter! I did it and it was amazing!

By train: Roma – Genoa train : get off at the Stazione di Grosseto (from the forecourt of the station there are buses for Saturnia (it takes about three hours from Grosseto station).

By car: A1 Bologna - Firenze - Exit Firenze Certosa - Florence-Siena - Grosseto freeway - Exit Roselle - continue to Scansano- Montemerano - Saturnia. A12 Roma - Civitavecchia - Civitavecchia exit - continue SS1 Aurelia - direction Grosseto to Montalto di Castro - Crossroad at Km 111 - Exit Marciano - Saturnia.
