
The Basilica of Saint Clement is a Roman Catholic basilica in Rome.
It is dedicated to Pope Clement I.
It is a complex of three buildings built in different centuries: the present Basilica (Middle Ages),beneath there is a 4th century Basilica and in the foundations,the home of a Roman nobleman of the republican era.
It is possible to visit the excavations as well.
In the 1st century it was a private home for clandestine Christian worship and became a public basilica by the 6th century.
