I would introduce you a National holiday in Italy: the Republic day we celebrate it on 2nd June.
Every year the day is celebrated on June 2 and on this date are reminded of the institutional referendum of June 1946 by which the citizens decided whether to keep the monarchy or switch to a republican state after the fall of the fascist regime. The result was that Italy became a republic with the subsequent expulsion from the national territory of Savoy with an exile that lasted until March 2003.
During the day you can attend to many initiatives that happen in the main icon of the Republic: the Quirinale, the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic and one of the symbols of the Italian State.
During the day are the feast day of the republic Italian embassies invite the Heads of State of the country that hosts them for the solemn celebrations and from all over the globe come to the President of the wishes of all the politicians and special ceremonies take place on the Italian territory.

The military parade where the Italian Armed Forces march the Fori Imperiali
the extraordinary Quirinale Gardens opening.
