In August, I accompanied my daughter to Creighton University  in Omaha, Nebraska.  
8月のこと、娘に付き添って、ネブラスカ州オマハにあるクレイトン大学へ行った。

Honolulu to Omaha is about 4,500 miles away.  A child, who lives in Hawaii all her life, will have a major change with life in the United States. 
ホノルルからオマハまでは約4,500マイル（＝およそ7,242km）離れている。生まれてからずっとハワイで暮らしてきた子供にとっては、アメリカの中でも、生活の大転換だ。

 Life on the islands is laid back and slow.  Life on the mainland is fast.  So the change is drastic.
ハワイでの生活はのんびり、ゆっくり。アメリカ本土の生活はせわしない。極端な変換だ。 

Creighton University is a Jesuit (Roman Catholic based) Private University.  It started in 1878, and has 7,800  students.  This year they enrolled 79 Hawaii students.  This school is known for the medical programs  and has a large hospital on campus. 
クレイトン大学は、イエズス会系（ローマンカソリック）の私立大学。1878年に開校し、現在は7,800名の学生が在籍している。今年はハワイから79名の生徒が入学した。この大学は、キャンパスに医学部と大きな病院があることで知られている。

The  city of Omaha is not one of your large major  cities like Los Angeles, New York.  It is a small city, and which was named one of the safest places to  live.  The people of Omaha are very nice, and are very similar to  Hawaii People.  The major sports are  Basketball and Soccer. 
オマハ市はロサンジェルスやニューヨークのような大都会ではない。生活するのに最も安全な都市のひとつと評される小規模な市だ。オマハの人々はとても親切で、ハワイの人々とよく似ている。人気のあるスポーツはバスケットとサッカーだ。 

The weather in Nebraska  is seasonal.  You have your 4  seasons.  Winter season is very cold, and  snows often.  Summer get really hot.  Omaha  is an agriculture city, which corn is the main produce.  
ネブラスカ州の天気は季節ごとに異なる。典型的な4つの季節があり、冬はとても寒く、雪もしばしば降る。夏はとても暑くなる。オマハは農業都市で、主な生産物はとうもろこし。

The different places we went to are:  Henry Doorly Zoo, Museums (there are a lot), and restaurants.
ヘンリー・ドーリー動物園や、博物館（たくさんある）、そしてレストランを訪れた。
