After I went to renew my state driver license at the Dillingham City Hall,
I walked over to the nearby shopping center located right across the street from the University of Hawaii Honolulu Community College campus. Among the many eateries that includes Yohei Sushi is, Nisshodo Mochiya, which is located at 1095 Dillingham Boulevard, phone number 847-1244, operating Monday – Saturday 7 am to 4 pm, closed on Sundays.
Here some of the best mochi and other products are made fresh daily. It is definetly the best in town, and at very reasonable prices. For example you can get one pound of chichi dango wrapped in a box for just $5.00. It is all individually wrapped and colored white and pink. Another favorite is the azuki bean daifuku mochi which is made fresh all day long,

so that no matter when you go you will get a very fresh , soft , and tasty item. In all there are over twenty different items to choose from which can make it difficult to select the ones you want.
When you first see the shop you may not think it is a mochi shop as all the surrounding shops are warehouse type businesses. As you enter the door you are presented with a showcase of all the different products available. A friendly salesperson will promptly assist you and go to them back room to get you the fresh made product.
This time I bought a pound of chichi dango and five pieces of daifuku mochi, my bill came to just $8.75. I left with my purchase biting into one of the mochi pieces that melted in my mouth, very delicious!
