El trompo (spinning top)

Hi everyone,

The "trompo" or "spinning top" is a mexican traditional toy made normally by wood which has passed from one generation to another.

It has a rope to play and there are different shapes and materials.  Now a days we have the plastic version.

Mexican "trompos" are very colorful too.

Many countries have their own "trompo" but these are typical mexicans

There are many mexican trompos for exportation, too. airplane


We also call "trompo de tacos al pastor" (pork meat seasoned and impaled in a tube) because of it's shape.

Next time maybe we can talk about the "tacos al pastor" too. 

But for the moment the "trompo" has been a traditional toy that has given joy and entertaiment to many of us, don't you think ?
